I will probably only put up progress reports every 100 cards or so now. Some thoughts: Keeping stories distinct is important. in the early 600's there is a lot of STATE OF MIND Kanji that end up turning into boring definitions. I had to look the exact definition of some the english words up before I could make a proper story for them.
The Review time is a lie. It takes longer for me to look up stories and write them down in anki that is not accounted for in these charts. But I find with the new user submitted stories and my own stories the image sticks a hell of a lot better. So review time is down for that aspect. Also the reps are significantly lower. Once through and I'm done if I looked up a story before hand. Twice if that particular story wasn't vivid enough. Very good for reviewing quick. Its definetly good to have more stories filled out than you plan to do the next day. I'm up to my 650th story but only review up to 600. Double the amount in stories is a lot of work. 1.5 times though should be doable. or I guess more like 1.6 times so that the numbers stay easy to calculate. so 40 stories a day and review 25. Not too bad.
Tip: It takes time but if you want to be fluent you need to put in the time eventually. This is a relatively painless way to do it. Just stick with it and I'm sure in the end our troubles will be worth it.
